Background and Justification
Ghana’s growing role as a gateway to the Sahel region underscores the need for enhanced logistics and trade infrastructure beyond its coastal ports. The Navrongo area, situated near the Paga border post, provides the most direct terrestrial link between Tema Port and the Sahelian capitals of Ouagadougou, Bamako, and Niamey. Despite increasing transit volumes, the corridor faces challenges such as port congestion, high transport costs, and limited storage facilities near the northern border. The Northern Commercial Hub (NoCH) is envisioned as a dry port and logistics center to address these gaps, providing cargo consolidation, customs clearance, and value-added logistics services.
